An extreme example of nature gone amok..the vines are pulling the

windows loose and the hum of bees on the blossoms

is very loud...

Nanthala, from the Cherokee language , means "Land of the Noonday Sun."

The Nanthala River runs through a narrow gorge and at certain

spots the sun reaches the ground at noon only. Hence its name..

The river is very popular with kayakers and the Nantahala Oudoor

Center is a great place to visit.

Morean Arts Center in St Petersburg has galleries, classes and studios

that can be used by the public in addition to a glass blowing studio.

During a recent trip to St Petersburg I came upon this innovative collection

of studios and shops in a re-purposed urban building

that had been sitting idle. Very nice light and airy central arcade...

The Bullington Center in Hendersonville recently had an open

house featuring their amaryllis sale, Christmas crafts...and...goodies.

This education center was very enjoyable in the winter

and deserves many more visits in the other seasons.
